A water booster pump can improve water pressure greatly where the demand on the water supply is high, for example in instances where the water needs to be used in multiple rooms at the same time, like showers in blocks of flats or gyms.
The distance the water has to come can also determine if a pressure boosting pump is needed. If the water source is far away or it needs to be pumped to different floors or storeys of a building, a water boosting pump is essential for the desired water flow.
Variable speed drives are used for adjusting flow or pressure to the water demand within a water pressure booster pump. They control the frequency of the electrical power supplied to the water booster pump, which saves energy as well as keeps the water flow continuous no matter the usage.
There are many applications that a water tank booster pump can be used for. These can include:
Our water pressure booster pump product range has the best water pumps from manufacturers like Grundfos, Ebara and Lowara. As every building design and its needs are different, we build our water pressure booster sets to meet the exact requirements needed for a guaranteed water pressure boost.
Does your home water pressure need a boost? A Hydromatic or Calpeda Meta S domestic water booster pump could be the answer. The Calpeda Mèta booster pump is a ready to use unit with a self-priming pump with a highly efficient asynchronous motor, built in frequency converter and pressure vessel, a pressure sensor on the discharge outlet, and a non-return valve on the inlet suction side.
For large domestic, agricultural, commercial, or small industrial applications, we would recommend a Hydrodrive or Calpeda Meta. The Hydrodrive is a multistage pump controlled by a variable speed drive, which constantly adjusts the speed of the pump as demand varies or fluctuates.
A pressure boosting pump can be used for both a mains water supply or private water supply, which could be from a borehole or well, using a borehole booster pump. However, if using a mains water booster pump on a mains supply it is worth noting that it is illegal in the UK to draw more than 12 litres per minute. If the system requires a flow rate higher than 12 litres per minute, the water booster pump cannot be directly installed onto the mains supply, and a break tank should be installed.
A break tank is a pressureless and closed water tank with an air gap, to ensure there is no backflow back into the mains water supply system. It is a legal requirement in the UK to use a break tank and pump if the water booster pump draws water from the mains water supply at more than 12 litres per minute.
A break tank and booster set ensure that the necessary amount of water to supply a system is always available. They are particularly useful in in tall buildings, as break tanks can be used as intermediate tanks to divide a water pressure boosting system into a number of manageable pressure zones.
Our pressure boosting pumps come in many different size and power levels dependent on the application you require it for. You can view the full range of water pressure pumps we stock here. If you need help choosing your water pressure pump, contact us on 01777 279551.
